Tropico 5 Complete Collection is a complete edition of the tropical-island empire-building game that includes not only the base game but a dozen additional DLC packs at a discounted price. In Tropico 5, you take on the role of the allegedly-benevolent dictator of a small island republic. Aided (and sometimes frustrated) by your bumbling subordinates, you must create buildings and manage your island's economic and political situation over time. The DLC packs add new threats, opportunities and campaigns.
Running your tropical island
Like its predecessors, Tropico 5 Complete Collection starts out relatively simply, but by the time you're really in the swing of things you'll be managing a lot of different factors in your very own banana republic. This level of depth will appeal to players who love this type of strategy and management game but can be a little offputting to new players, although the game does a good job of easing you into it. Graphically, Tropico looks solid, with colorful, moderately-realistic landscapes. It's nice to zoom in and watch your citizens walking the streets (or fleeing the secret police).
A big-value bundle
If you've been waiting for a time to jump in to Tropico 5, Tropico 5 Complete Collection represents a great value with its discounted DLC bundle. Of course, veteran Tropico players who already own some of the DLC won't benefit as much.
